Sadly, unlike a regular person, a library cannot pay Amazon or Barnes & Noble for an eBook and then lend it out to people. We can buy a printed book from these companies, stick it on the shelf, and lend it out--but digital content is treated differently by the publishers and the companies who manage digital content licensing. We desperately want to offer you these eBooks, but the companies won't let us. As your library, we commit to continuing advocacy for change in these policies.
The following publishers currently refuse to sell or license eBooks to libraries:

Our Librarians have created a list of these books that you can purchase through a special Amazon.com Wish List. By donating one of these books to the Library, you can be sure that you’re meeting an immediate and specific need. (Note: Although Amazon.com will suggest additional books for your consideration, please do not purchase books for the Library that are not specifically requested on the Wish List.)
When you buy books on the Library’s Amazon.com Wish List, they will be mailed directly to the Library. The Library will place a book plate on each book letting future readers know it was a gift to the Library. In addition, you will be notified by the Library that your generous donation was received. Your donation will be tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
If you would like a personalized book plate dedication or be the first to read your donated book (First Loan program), please follow the additional steps below:
The Upland Public Library is reviving our Save Our Subscriptions (S.O.S.) program, inviting individuals, families, and organizations to pick up the price for their favorite magazine subscription. Because of fiscal challenges, we must appeal to our community. Contributing to the S.O.S. program is a wonderful way to share your support of the Upland Public Library with the entire community.
Our magazine collection is heavily used, but unfortunately, this collection is becoming more and more expensive to maintain. Price increases, coupled with the Library’s ever-shrinking budget, mean that we need your support more than ever.
If you or your family (or club or business) would like to subsidize a magazine subscription for the year, the entire community will benefit from your generosity. Your gift will be publicly acknowledged on each magazine’s shelf label unless otherwise requested. Individual issues of a donated subscription may be acknowledged if the donor can also provide the labels. All contributions are tax deductible.
Working together, we can provide a stronger Library for all!
How can I help? You can choose to make a general donation. Or, if you wish to support a particular title, a certain age group, or field of interest, please contact the Administration Office at (909) 931-4203 to discuss these options.
The Friends of the Upland Public Library is in need of gently used books, magazines, and DVDs. Please call the Library at (909) 931-4200 for drop-off information.
Here's a new easy way to raise money for the Upland Public Library. Just start using GoodSearch.com as your search engine and online shopping mall. Every time you search the Internet or make an online purchase at one of their partner merchants, GoodSearch makes a donation to the Upland Public Library and it's powered by Yahoo! so you get great search results!
