Upland City Library

What's New

Library Closed July 27-31, 2014

The Upland Public Library will be closed for operational changes from Sunday, July 27th, to Thursday, July 31st. Please see below for more information. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

City Council Approved Contract with LSSI

On June 23rd, the Upland City Council voted to approve a contract with Library Systems & Services, LLC (LSSI) to operate the Upland Public Library commencing August 1st. The Library will be closed for operational changes from Sunday, July 27th, to Thursday, July 31st.
The approved LSSI contract increases the hours of operation by 24%, enabling the Library to serve the public 7 days per week; more than doubles the current book and materials budget; continues vital literacy programming; reduces overall costs of operations, thus saving taxpayers more than $1 million over the 5-year contract; and provides more professional growth opportunities for the existing staff.
“LSSI is grateful for the trust that has been placed in us by the City of Upland. Our approach is to work as a team with our customers, adding proven knowledge to the expertise of local officials, community leaders, library support groups, and library staff, and to ensure that the best possible service levels are achieved for the taxpayers’ investment,” said Ron Dubberly, CEO of LSSI.

Bring your Library Card during Catalog Maintenance, August 11-14

It may seem funny that we have to ask, but please bring your library card with you when you visit on Monday, August 11th, through Thursday, August 14th. Maintenance will be conducted on the Library’s computer system, hosted by the Inland Library Network and powered by Polaris Library Systems. Library staff will be unable to look up or replace library cards or accept payments for overdue fines, lost bills, or hold/rental fees. Staff can renew the loan period only if patrons bring the books to the Checkout Desk. Also, if library patrons check their online accounts during the maintenance window, the online information may not be up to date. However, as long as you have your valid library card in hand, you can check out books and use the free public computers. Library staff can also register new library patrons. We apologize for any inconvenience to patrons, and we appreciate patience and understanding during this time.
