Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection takes place Saturdays at the Upland City Yard, 1370 North Benson Avenue, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., free of charge.
HHW consists of:
Used motor oil* and filters, antifreeze, automotive products, paints, thinners, batteries**, propane tanks, fluorescent tubes, mercury thermometers, fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, hobby supplies, pool chemicals, household cleaners and chemicals, cooking oil and medications.
Please limit each trip to 15 gallons or 125 pounds - liquids should be in containers no larger than 5-gallons; box items in a single layer.
**New DOT regulations require that some battery terminals be protected to prevent fires from sparks generated from friction during the transport of batteries. Please place tape on the terminals of all batteries except for A, AA, AAA, C and D batteries. Thank you for your cooperation.
Free mulch made from green waste collected throughout the City is available to Upland residents on the last Saturday of each month during HHW collection (35 gallon per trip limit).

* The city distributes free oil and filter containers during HHW collection or at the City Yard, Monday -Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please use these instead of bottles, jugs, etc.
